Zero Tech Waste has today announced its partnership with SEC Newgate to deliver a new device donation scheme, supporting the firm’s commitment under the UK Government’s IT Reuse for Good Charter.
As SEC Newgate’s chosen IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) provider, Zero Tech Waste will play a central role in securely refurbishing and redistributing surplus technology. Working alongside partners including the Digital Poverty Alliance, the initiative aims to extend the lifespan of devices while directly addressing digital exclusion across the UK.
The scheme reflects a growing shift among businesses towards a reuse-first approach to IT asset management. By prioritising refurbishment over recycling, Zero Tech Waste will ensure that devices remain in circulation for as long as possible – reducing e-waste, lowering carbon impact, and delivering tangible social value.
Oliver Taylor, Director at Zero Tech Waste, said “We’re so pleased to be supporting SEC Newgate on this important initiative. Too often, organisations refresh IT equipment without a clear plan for devices that still have significant usable life. Through this scheme, we’re able to securely refurbish and redeploy technology, ensuring it reaches individuals and families who genuinely need it, while also helping businesses meet their sustainability goals.”
Under the Charter’s framework, participating organisations commit to measurable environmental and social outcomes. Zero Tech Waste will support SEC Newgate in tracking the impact of the scheme, including carbon savings, waste reduction, and the number of devices successfully redistributed to those in need.
The partnership also highlights the increasing importance of circular IT strategies within purpose-driven organisations. By aligning secure data destruction, sustainable IT lifecycle management, and social impact, Zero Tech Waste enables clients to turn redundant technology into a force for good.
SEC Newgate’s participation in the Charter through its Ambition 28 programme sets a strong precedent within the communications sector, and Zero Tech Waste encourages other organisations to follow suit by adopting reuse-led IT strategies that benefit both people and the planet.
