Businesses choose Zero Tech Waste because the process is simple, secure and professional from first enquiry to final certificate. We arrange a convenient collection, handle your equipment carefully, provide the right documentation, and keep you informed throughout.

Old laptops are not just e-waste. They carry data risk.

Redundant laptops can carry sensitive business data, employee records, customer information, passwords, documents and access credentials. That makes laptop recycling a security decision — not just a disposal task. Zero Tech Waste helps businesses recycle old laptops properly, with secure collection, data destruction, responsible reuse or recycling, and the certificates you need for your records.

Secure data destruction for old laptops

Every laptop is handled with data security in mind from collection to processing. We securely erase, degauss or physically destroy storage media depending on the device, condition and data risk. Where required, we can provide enhanced data destruction with a full audit trail and individual certificates. That means your old laptops can be reused, recycled or broken down without leaving sensitive data behind.

Reuse before recycling

A laptop should not become waste if it can still be useful. Where possible, we assess laptops for reuse, refurbishment or component recovery. Working devices and usable parts can be redeployed into the circular economy, helping reduce demand for new raw materials and unnecessary manufacturing.

Frequently asked questions

Is laptop recycling free?

Yes. We offer free collections when you have 10 or more qualifying laptops, PCs or servers in any combination. For smaller collections or specialist items, we’ll confirm any collection cost before booking.

Can you recycle broken or obsolete laptops?

Yes. We collect working, broken, obsolete and end-of-life laptops. Where possible, we prioritise reuse or component recovery before materials recycling.

Do you destroy data from old laptops?

Yes. We securely sanitise data from laptop storage media and can provide Certificates of Destruction. Where software-based erasure is not suitable, we use physical destruction methods.

Do you recycle MacBooks and Chromebooks?

Yes. We collect and recycle MacBooks, Chromebooks, Windows laptops, netbooks, 2-in-1 devices, rugged laptops and other mobile computers.

What happens to laptops after collection?

We assess laptops for reuse first. Devices that can be refurbished or redeployed are prioritised for a second life. Anything that cannot be reused is responsibly recycled through appropriate UK-based material streams.

Do you provide certificates?

Yes. We provide relevant documentation, including Waste Transfer Notes, Certificates of Destruction and Carbon Offset Certificates where applicable.

Can you collect laptops with other IT equipment?

Yes. We can collect laptops alongside PCs, servers, monitors, printers, phones, tablets, hard drives, cables, docks and other business IT equipment.
