Is my IT recycling collection free?

Key takeaways

Key Takeaways

  • Free IT recycling collection is available for 10 or more qualifying assets like laptops and PCs.
  • Almost all other WEEE can also be recycled at no extra cost if included in the same collection.
  • Certain items, such as large displays or smartboards, incur IT recycling charges based on specific criteria.
  • Data destruction is free for all IT assets, with enhanced tracking available for £5 per device.
  • Households can recycle items not covered by free services through local recycling centres.

Our Free IT recycling collection service is available when you have 10 or more qualifying assets to recycle, for example any combination of laptops, desktop PCs and servers. That means free computer recycling is available as part of your qualifying collection – any make and any condition.

Once you meet this threshold, we’ll also recycle almost all other WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) included in the same collection at no additional cost.

For the small number of items that don’t qualify for free collection, we’ve published our IT collection charges in full below. Our IT recycling charges are transparent, with no hidden fees or unexpected costs. Our free collection service is available across mainland UK, so your location does not affect your eligibility.

If you’re wondering how we can offer free recycling, or how to distinguish a genuine free service from one that isn’t, read our guide explaining how free IT recycling works and what to look for when choosing a recycling partner.

Household IT recycling charges

IT collection charges for households depend on whether the equipment meets the minimum number of qualifying device criteria. If you are a non-business customer and want to recycle individual devices sustainably please locate your nearest recycling centre.

Frequently asked questions

What if I need to add to my collection on the day? Will I be charged?

Not if the extra items are free-qualifying and your total still meets the 10-item threshold. If anything you add falls into a chargeable category, such as an oversized display or a server rack, that item is charged as listed above and confirmed with you before it’s collected. Just tell our driver on the day and we’ll be happy to help.

Do you charge more for collections outside our local area?

No. We collect nationwide across the UK at no extra cost, so free collection isn’t limited to any particular region.

What happens if my collection ends up under 10 items?

Get in touch before booking if you’re not sure your collection will meet the threshold. We’ll confirm whether it qualifies for free collection or let you know what, if anything, would be charged.

Do you charge extra for certificates?

No. A standard Certificate of Destruction and Carbon Offset Certificate are provided free with every collection. If you need individual wiping reports per device, our enhanced data destruction service costs £5 (ex. VAT) per asset.

Do you charge extra for inner-city or ULEZ collections?

No. We operate electric vehicles wherever possible, including for inner-city and ULEZ collections, so there’s no separate charge or surcharge for these areas.

How do I pay for collections that fall outside the free collection criteria?

If a collection is chargeable, we’ll provide an invoice in advance. You can pay securely by credit card or PayPal before collection.

Can I request more than one collection free of charge?

Yes you can. As long as each collection meets the minimum number of qualifying devices.
