Why organisations on Tyneside choose us

Old technology does not stop being a risk when it is switched off for the last time. Whether you are clearing a floor of contact centre desks or retiring a single server, our customers come to us for prompt responses, careful handling and a clear record of every device.

What do you get with IT recycling in Newcastle from Zero Tech Waste?

  • Collecting across Tyneside and the North East
  • GDPR and WEEE compliant
  • Certificates with every collection
  • Refurbishment comes first

Headsets, thin clients and laptops from a busy office can hold thousands of customer records, and engineering workstations often carry years of design files. All of it falls under the WEEE regulations, and anything that still works should be refurbished before it is ever recycled. We look after the data, the compliance and the reuse together.

Whether you run a contact centre on Cobalt Business Park, a technology business at Newcastle Helix, a manufacturer on the Team Valley Trading Estate or a department at Newcastle University, the IT you retire is likely to hold customer, design or student data. We collect it from your site, keep it secure throughout, destroy every drive and give you the certificates for your records.

Do we collect near you in Newcastle?

Yes, we are already in your area. Our team collects across Newcastle and Gateshead, along both banks of the Tyne to North Shields and South Shields, and out to Washington, Sunderland and Cramlington, so IT recycling in the North East is simple to arrange. If you have been searching for IT recycling near me in Newcastle, you can book a local collection backed by a specialist UK team that documents every device it handles.

Excellent experience. Used Zero Tech Waste to dispose of ~50 laptops, HDDs and other misc. WEEE. Professional from start to finish; Ollie replied to my initial enquiry very quickly with a quote, and on collection day James was on-time and the removal was very fast. Highly recommend this company for any organisations requiring regulation-compliant IT disposal!

I had a fantastic experience with Zero Tech Waste. Another company said the equipment wasn't enough to cover their costs and asked us for £395+VAT. But it was no problem for Zero Tech Waste, who collected the equipment the next day and provided certificates of data destruction and carbon offset. Highly recommended!

Newcastle IT recycling: your questions answered

Can you collect a large volume of contact centre equipment?

Yes. We can plan collections around office moves and refresh projects, taking away desktops, thin clients, headsets and monitors in bulk with certification for every device. See our computer recycling service.

Is IT recycling in Newcastle free?

It is free for 10 or more qualifying laptops, PCs or servers. Below that, or for specialist items, we tell you the cost upfront so there are no surprises. Our charges page has the details.

Do you cover Gateshead, Sunderland and the coast?

Yes. Our IT recycling in Tyneside covers Gateshead, Wallsend, North Shields, South Shields and Whitley Bay, as well as Sunderland, Washington and Cramlington.

How quickly can you get to us on Tyneside?

In most cases we can be with you within 24 to 72 hours. Timing depends on your exact location, how much equipment there is and any site access arrangements.

How is our data destroyed?

Storage media is sanitised using NCSC-approved methods, and drives unsuitable for software erasure are physically destroyed. You get a Certificate of Destruction covering every collection. Our data destruction methods page sets out each approach.

Which documents do you send after collection?

Your Duty of Care Waste Transfer Note is signed on the day and emailed to you immediately. The Certificate of Destruction usually arrives within 72 hours, with a Carbon Offset Certificate alongside it. Have a look at examples of our certificates.

Will working laptops be scrapped?

No. Anything in working order is refurbished and passed on to partners and charities, because a second life beats the shredder every time. Only items that cannot be reused are recycled, through UK-based material streams. Our waste hierarchy page explains why.
