iFixit

Who are iFixit?

iFixit is a global repair community of people helping each other fix their stuff. We are millions of tinkerers, technicians, and volunteers working together to help people repair their devices every day. Together we’re fixing the world, one broken gadget at a time!”

UKRI & University of Birmingham

The RoboTriage project

RoboTriage aims to tackle a key weakness in today’s Circular Economy: the loss of value when end-of-life products are recycled instead of reused, repaired or remanufactured. It introduces “circularity triage” — a rapid, intelligent assessment of product condition using robotics and AI. It does this with large-scale, accurate sorting into the highest-value recovery pathways to reduce waste, preserve materials, and unlock new circular business models with significant economic and environmental benefits.

How are we working together?

The Zero Tech Waste team are working with the RoboTriage project to provide expertise and access to assets to enable better automation in the chain of custody for end-of-life IT assets.

We are working with the University of Birmingham on their "Robotic Triage for Value Retention in a Circular Economy (RoboTriage)" research project
